Joshua, Noah, Wouter, Reinout en Ischa ontmoeten elkaar als broekies in 2010, op een voetbalveldje tijdens De Muziekdagen in Orvelte. Het is de start van een hechte vriendschap én de oorsprong van hun eerste bandnaam: Lang Leve de Lol. Anno nu is het plezier er zichtbaar nog niet vanaf, maar zijn de jongens onder de naam Woodcraft wel serieuze stappen aan het maken. Vanuit hun roots in de klassieke muziek is Woodcraft de afgelopen jaren een eigenzinnig pad opgeslagen en het experiment aangegaan met nieuwe mogelijkheden voor hun traditionele instrumenten. Dankzij hun ongebruikelijke bezetting van 3 cello’s en 2 violen is het vijftal aangewezen op hun eigen creativiteit en vindingrijkheid. Iets wat ze goed blijkt te passen. Hun titelloze debuutalbum dat in 2023 verscheen staat vol eigen unieke composities en improvisaties. De muziek van Woodcraft is typerend voor de tijd waarin ze zijn opgegroeid. Een genre-overstijgende stijl, met een uitgesproken eigen mening.
Met het spelen van enkel hun eigen composities won Woodcraft in 2022 de jury-én publieksprijs van de Dutch Jazz Competition en speelden ze onder meer al op North Sea Jazz Festival, Het Grachtenfestival, en de cello Biënnale. In 2024 verschijnt het tweede studioalbum van Woodcraft.

Joshua, Noah, Wouter, Reinout and Ischa met each other as teenagers in 2010, on a football field during a music camp. It is the start of a close friendship and the origin of their first band name: Lang Leve de Lol (Fun Forever). Nowadays the fun has clearly not stopped, but the boys are making serious progress with the ensemble as Woodcraft.
From their roots in classical music, Woodcraft has taken a unique path in recent years and experimented with new possibilities for their traditional instruments. Thanks to their unusual line-up of 3 cellos and 2 violins, the quintet has to rely on their own creativity and ingenuity. Something that turns out to suit them well. Their self-titled debut album, which was released in 2023, is full of their own unique compositions and improvisations. Woodcraft's music is typical of the time in which they grew up. A genre-transcending style, with a distinct opinion.
By playing only their own compositions, Woodcraft won the jury and Public Choise award at the Dutch Jazz Competition in 2022 and they performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival, Het Grachtenfestival, and the Cello Biennale.
Woodcraft's second studio album will be released in 2024.
